Entry Assessment
This entry test is administered to all children to work out which group they are best matched to. The child reads the assessment passages (found the Phonics Handbook) in the sequence until they start to struggle. The child starts on the Storybook or Ditty stage that matches the last text that they read confidently, with fluency and with intonation.
On going Assessment
To track your children's progress term by term a spread sheet is provided (in the Phonics Handbook) to assess children's phonic knowledge, blending ability and knowledge of Red Words.
This assessment is particularly useful for children who are predicted to make slow progress.
